This summer, Spanish tenor Alvaro Rodriguez will play Xavier Prado in the new musical play by Tom Mallan, "SwingTime!," presented by the In Series in Washington, DC. Recently, he sung in the cabaret "Tango, Tango!" with Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia. In August, he will sing a recital in Lima, Peru.

In 2009 Alvaro sung in the In Series' "Exploring Zarzuela" at George Mason University in June, the role of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Center Stage Opera in PA, Roberto/Rodolfo in Bohemios/La boheme with Zarzuela Di Si, and Gustavo in Los Gavilanes with Zarzuela Di Si.

In 2008 Alvaro sang the role of Ramiro with Opera Theater of Northern Virginia. In September he performed two recitals in Mallorca; one, a benefit concert in Palma, and the other, an eBay sponsored event in Porto Petro. In the summer of 2008 he sang Edmondo in Manon Lescaut and covered Des Grieux for Utah Festival Opera in Logan, UT. At the same time he debuted in a musical, playing the obnoxious George Read in 1776. Earlier in 2008, he sang Almaviva in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia with Opera Fresca in Mendocino, CA and Javier in M. Torroba's Luisa Fernanda with Zarzuela Di Si in Washington, DC.

Other operatic appearances include the roles of Rodolfo in La boheme with Amici Opera, Leandro in La tabernera del puerto with Zarzuela Di Si, Roberto in Bohemios with Opera Theater of Northern Virginia/Teatro de La Luna, Tebaldo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi with Chamber Opera of Washington and Paolino in Il matrimonio Segreto with Maryland Opera Studio.

In recital and oratorio, Alvaro has been a soloist with Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Machester Symphony and Chorale, Ovation Artists, InSeries and Opera Camerata of Washington DC, among others.
